Ash, I don’t even know where to start except to say this post is exactly why you’ve been such a force in my life (and so many others’). You never sugarcoat it — you give us the wild, high-voltage truth, the disasters, the dark nights, the weird detours, and the slivers of hope that make the struggle worthwhile. It’s rare to find someone willing to live “ass first” (your words!) and then turn around and share the real lessons, not the sanitized ones.
Your contrarian community model, the “business about nothing,” your relentless making — art, music, words, whatever the mood calls for — it all reminds me that success isn’t about profit or making things easy. It’s about refusing to play by the rules that never made sense to us anyway. I’m grateful for the way you show up, no matter how heavy things get, and how you keep showing the rest of us that we can too.

Being a contrarian in a homogenised world ain't easy, especially when the world has a yard stick and expectation on contrarians to be a certain cliche. The in-between path I hope inspires all those who think they are lost to know there are many of us on the path so its actually a fun place to be not being herded in the race but roaming the jungles and forage for the gems of inspiration.

I think I had 8 different majors in college and my degree is in 3 different disciplines because I couldn't make up my mind. My "career"= more ADHD. But somehow it always comes back to art and writing so here we are. Anyway, love the way you write! I hope 2025 is better than we all anticipate for all of us,

We are similar I studied three degrees and when I was going to complete the third one after deferring two. I thought how cool would it be to just stay unqualified and study everything and never finish the degree… but alas no money to do such a conceptual art piece in this life time.
The ADHD is only ever a manifestation of creativity in a stolid world of booring shiz… Just a mechanism to make ones own way rathe than the pigeon hole people who love there puppet strings waaaaay toooo much.
